Alexandra Overton

Director of Design

Coming from a family of artists, this Renaissance Woman started her art education in 1996 by taking Drawing with the Left Side of the Brain, bead making and moving on to several courses in textiles at Baltimore’s Maryland Institute, College of Art. She then attended New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology in 2000 where she excelled in courses in fashion design. She studied the ancients and traveled to Italy and Greece and learned how art and design influenced the world. This led to a love of history which developed her depth of understanding of art and its relationship to design. Several years later Alex fell into an opportunity to work for one of the most highly regarded interior designers in the area, Lawson Design Corporation. Under the tutelage of George and Kendyl Lawson, Alex was able to put all the knowledge she’d gained in her studies into formal, professional experience. In 2009 Alex formally joined Overton Design Group, Inc. as the Director of Design where she has flourished into a respected and knowledgeable interior designer.
