Ryan Henry
Ryan earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2008. Throughout his college career he was highly involved with the American Institute of Architecture Students, serving on the executive board as 1st year Director, Chapter President, and Fifth Year Director. He also participated in community outreach programs, such as Hands on Atlanta, a program that tries to provide architectural education to elementary students. As well as Freedom by Design, an AIAS program which finds handicapped and recently handicapped individuals whose homes are designed in a way that hinders their daily lives, and works to provide solutions to make living in these homes easier for them. He also served as part of the planning team for the school’s annual golf tournament, and as the Chair of the Open House Planning Committee. During his senior year Ryan founded a faculty art exhibit as part of the schools open house, since that time it has become an annual event.
Following his graduation during the height of the recession, Ryan found it difficult to find work in the field of Architecture. Rather than get discouraged with his inability to gain employment, he decided to take a proactive approach, and in 2009 started his own home remodeling and handyman business. He worked on projects ranging in size from a small bathroom remodel, to a full 900 sq ft garage build from the foundation up. He successfully ran his company for a little over two years before joining Overton Design Group, Inc. in August of 2011.
